About Sun
Sun is from Seoul, South Korea. She graduated from Korea University with a B.S. and M.S. in chemistry, where she worked on synthesizing fluorescent probes for intracellular imaging of drug localization. After graduating, she worked at SK Chemicals as a research scientist, synthesizing polyesters with bio-renewable monomers. In 2015, she started her Ph.D. at Yale University under the guidance of Professor Jonathan A. Ellman, where she worked on the total synthesis of opioids and methodology development for accessing quaternary carbons using cobalt catalysis. In 2020, she joined the laboratory of Professor Abigail G. Doyle as a postdoctoral fellow at Princeton University, where she focused on developing Ni/photoredox catalyzed cross-coupling strategies. In 2023, Sun began her independent career at Sogang University as an assistant professor.
